To get delayed or move past the planned deadline.

• Synonym: Delay / Fall behind
The delivery date might slip if we don’t speed things up.
The timeline slipped after we lost a key developer.

Hold off
To delay doing something or wait before taking action.
• Formality: Common
• Synonym: Postpone / Pause

Up in the air
Uncertain or undecided; not yet finalized.
• Formality: Informal
• Synonym: Unclear / Unsettled
"The plan is still up in the air until we get budget approval."

Escalate
To raise a problem to a higher authority or management.
• Formality: Common
• Synonym: Report / Raise
